Armorik Dervenn 2012- French Whisky
There is an unavoidable name when speaking of French whisky. Even though it is a recent phenomenon, French whisky production is growing and successful, with a few names standing out for their quality and innovation. One of those names is Armorik.
Armorik Dervenn 2012
The name “Dervenn’? is a British word that means oak. This whisky has this name because its aging process is different from other french whiskies. For Armorik Dervenn there are only used oak barrels from Britain. The result is a young whisky but with a strong character, surprising any whisky lover.
Features of Armorik Dervenn 2012
Altough it is a whisky only aged for 4 years, it is an excellent presage of what it is to come from Warengheim’s distillery which produces the Armorik expressions. This whisky is very tasteful and already has some complexity. This french whisky has everything to please even the most demanding whisky fans.
Aromas and Flavours
This whisky has a pretty strong floral character and its aromas often please whisky lovers from the first moment. But when we talk about flavours, there’s when french whisky Armorik Dervenn shows its cards. Several flavours that combined offer quite an interesting experience. The main elements that you can taste are spices, nutmeg, cinnamon, papaya and other fuits.
If you want to experience the french whiskies, Armorik Dervenn 2012 is definitely a good start.
Great review! Had the opportunity to taste the Armorik Dervenn this past summer at Warenghem distillery and loved it! One thing I wanted to note, Dervenn is the “Breton” word for oak, and the wood is all sourced from Brittany (i.e. Breton oak).
