Although everyone is focused on Christmas and everything around it, you cannot forget that the New Year is also just around the corner! Have you started on the preparation? The party, the glamour, the fireworks and most importantly the gathering? Well, probably not so we at WhiskyFlavour have decided to give you some easy cocktails that will create a spectacular impact on your New Year’s party.
Although in this article, we will give you only a couple of recipes, stay tuned for the upcoming articles with more ideas and cocktails. Easy to make, with easy to find ingredients, this is a recipe that you will want to keep.
In the previous No fail, whisky cocktail articles we used to give you a type or a brand of whisky to use. Here, let your taste buds decide and get creative with your choice of whisky.
Maple Bourbon Old-Fashioned
- 2 oz. Bourbon (of your choice)
- 1 tsp. of Water
- 1 Dash of Bitters
- 1 Orange Peel
- 2 tsp. of Maple Syrup
- 1 Maraschino cherry for garnish
In a glass, combine the maple syrup, water and the dash of bitters. Stir will until all are well blended. Add a couple of blocks of ice and the orange peel. Top up with the bourbon and garnish with a cherry. Ready to serve!
Blood Orange Whiskey
- 2 ½ oz. freshly squeezed blood orange (around 2 blood oranges)
- ¼ oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice (around a quarter of a lemon)
- ½ oz. agave nectar
- 2 to 3 dashed of orange bitters
- ½ oz. Amaro Nonino Quintessentia (digestive which is grappa based and infused with herbs, spices and roots)
- 1 ½ oz. whiskey
- Sprig of Thyme
Squeeze the juice of all the citrus (blood orange and lemon). Next, in a cocktail shaker fill it with ice. Now add the whiskey, amaro, blood orange juice, bitters, lemon juice and the agave nectar. Shake well until it becomes chilled and mixed. Strain and pour into a cocktail glass filled with ice. Finally, squeeze the thyme sprig a few times so it releases its oils and aroma. Garnish with the thyme and enjoy!
Grapefruit Whiskey Sour
- 3 oz. whiskey
- Lemon wedges for garnish
- Cold grapefruit soda
Fill two glasses with ice and add the whiskey. Top up with the cold grapefruit soda and voila! Add the lemon wedges for garnish and enjoy immediately.
