About Suntory
The history of this distillery goes back to the roots and origins of Japanese whisky itself. Shinjiro, founder of a liquor importation company, soon realized the opportunity and decided to pursue the production of distillate beverages. Began producing a beverage based on Port wine, and having succeeded decided to produce whisky (with great opposition from the company’s executives). With the help of Masataka Taketsuru (founder of Nikka’s distillery a few years later), Shinjiro created a very successful history of Japanese whisky.
